abstract |
The present disclosure relates to rubber latexes formed from any of the following: branched block copolymers derived from alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon-1,3-diene monomer systems and branched polyisoprene homopolymers derived from isoprene. In one embodiment the polymer is obtained by polymerization in the presence of an anionic initiator; at a temperature of 0°C to 100°C; then a multifunctional coupling agent of the formula (R1O)3Si-Y-Si(OR2)3, wherein R1 and R2 are independently C1-C6 an alkyl group; Y is C2-C8 It is an alkylene group. The polymer is obtained as a rubber cement with high solids content and low zero shear viscosity. Rubber cement is useful for making latex for further applications. |
