abstract | The process for producing microcapsules begins by preparing an emulsion of surfactant, core material, and water, followed by addition of a crosslinking agent and melamine formaldehyde prepolymer, which is subsequently polymerized. The crosslinking agent separates the melamine formaldehyde prepolymer for addition either prior to the first or second addition of the melamine formaldehyde prepolymer, or with both the first and second additions of the melamine formaldehyde prepolymer. The crosslinking agent is a mixture of the reaction product of a cyclic urea (U) and a polyfunctional aldehyde (A), and at least one crosslinking agent selected from the group: (i) consisting of aminotriazines and aliphatic monoaldehydes and polyfunctional aliphatic aldehydes at least one aldehyde selected from the group, (ii) urea and/or cyclic urea and formaldehyde, or (iii) phenol and aliphatic monoaldehyde, or alkoxycarbonylaminotriazine, or polyfunctional isocyanate, epoxide, aziridine , and carbodiimides. |
