Kinetic fluid energy conversion system |
abstract |
The kinetic fluid energy conversion system includes one or more hubs 120 rotating about a central hub carrier, each hub including one or more independently controlled articulating energy conversion plates (“ECPs”). The articulating control system provides the direction of fluid flow between a 90° orientation perpendicular to the fluid flow while traveling in the direction of the flow, and a minimum drag position of 0° parallel to the flow while moving in the opposite direction of the flow or blocked from it. Rotate each ECP 10 independently of everything else to control its orientation with respect to. Each hub 120 may be operably coupled to one or more reverse rotation hubs and other hubs to form an ECP assembly, whereby mechanical energy is transferred to one or more clutch/gearbox/generator/pump assemblies through the hub. Transferred, these assemblies are land based when the system is operated on wind power, and allow such assemblies to be on or near the water surface when the system is operated on hydraulic power. |
