The present invention relates to a method of increasing the activity of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in a specific brain region to treat a disease or condition associated with decreased acetylcholine activity. In particular, the present method relates to intranasal administration of pregnenolone to only one nostril, providing an ipsilateral increase in acetylcholine activity by increasing acetylcholine activity only in the amygdala corresponding to one nostril. |
