Expressing the membrane protein in a host organism present in an aqueous medium, releasing the membrane protein from the host organism, dissolving the membrane protein by adding a detergent solution, recovering a liquid fraction of the dissolved membrane protein, liquid A process for producing a membrane protein is disclosed, comprising the steps of subjecting the fraction to chromatography to bind or retain the membrane protein in the stationary phase, and eluting the stationary phase with an elution buffer to produce a membrane protein. This process can produce relatively large amounts of membrane proteins in an efficient manner without compromising the quality of the final product. |
