Stem/progenitor cells from Brunner's gland of the duodenum and methods of isolation and use thereof |
abstract |
Disclosed herein are Brunner's gland stem/progenitor cells (BGSCs) that have a phenotypic trait of endoderm stem cells and are positive for pluripotency markers and methods of isolating them from the human duodenum. In addition, the present disclosure provides that BGSCs are readily isolated from the duodenum of human donors and can be expanded into culture or induced to differentiate into liver and pancreatic lineages and can represent a source of cells for clinical programs in regenerative medicine. |
