abstract The phenol resin of the present invention is an o-position substituted phenol resin represented by the following general formula (1), and has a melt viscosity at 150°C of 0.20 Pa·s or less. It is preferable that the substituent R of the general formula (1) is a methyl group. It is also preferable that the weight average molecular weight (Mw) by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) analysis is 1000 or less, and the n=0 component in the resin is 12 to 30% as an area ratio of gel permeation chromatography (GPC) analysis. Do. (In the formula, R is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and n is an integer of 0 or more.)
