titleOfInvention Materials that resist contamination and how to identify them
abstract In general, the invention relates to a material that, in use, resists contamination of its surface. Various processes with surfaces exposed to a given fluid containing contaminants or chemicals that can deposit on or adhere to the surface and then continue to grow on the surface to enhance the performance of equipment and processes. Can be used in the construction of equipment. The material is specially selected using a method that takes into account the dielectric spectrum of the fluid to which the surface is exposed and the surface itself. It was unexpectedly discovered that if the dielectric spectra of the surface and the fluid are matched within a relatively consistent range, there should be no adhesion of contaminants on the surface. In some embodiments, the dielectric spectrum to be matched includes an intrinsic refractive index.
