An object of the present invention is to provide an electrode active material suitably used for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a large charge/discharge capacity, high initial efficiency, and excellent cycle characteristics and rate characteristics. The present invention relates to an organic sulfur-based electrode active material having a total sodium and potassium content of 100 to 1000 ppm by mass, an electrode for a secondary battery using the same as an electrode active material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having the electrode. It is preferable that the organic sulfur-based electrode active material further has an iron content of 1 mass ppm to 20 mass ppm. In addition, the organic sulfur-based electrode active material is yellow-modified polyacrylonitrile, and the sulfur content is preferably 25% by mass to 60% by mass. |
