Secnidazole for use in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a method for treating bacterial vaginosis in a subject, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of secnidazole in a microgranulation formulation to a subject in need thereof, wherein the microgranulation formulation is within a microgranulation population. The volume-weighted particle size distribution comprising a plurality of microgranules having a volume-weighted particle size distribution and measured from a representative sample of the microgranules population is: (a) 10% of the microgranules population is at least about 470 μm in volume -Having a weighted particle size; (b) 50% of the microgranules population has a volume-weighted particle size of at least about 640 μm to about 810 μm; (c) 90% of the microgranules population has a volume-weighted particle size of about 1,170 μm or less; Or (d) combinations thereof which may include some or all of (a) to (c) above. |
