A method for manufacturing a guidewire for an intravascular medical system for treating a thrombus located within a target blood vessel is disclosed. The method includes forming a substantially planar distal end of the guidewire; And cutting the predetermined shape into the distal end of the guidewire, where the distal end is wider than the rest of the guidewire proximal to the distal end, and the predetermined shape is through a neurovascular structure or across a blood clot. The guidewire tip is configured to minimize the likelihood of entering the perforated vessel when delivered. |
