It is an object of the present invention to produce collagen vitrigel and tablets thereof having high membrane strength, easy industrial and mechanical production, easy processing, and high stability even without crosslinking treatment from collagen. To achieve this purpose, collagen is gelled with a gelling agent containing a compound selected from the group consisting of inorganic carbonates, inorganic chlorides and inorganic phosphates, and then the resulting collagen gel is vitrified and further imparted to the hydration treatment.
