abstract The present invention relates to a method of inducing nerve regeneration, comprising administering a MEK 1/2 inhibitor to a patient in need of regeneration. In particular, the MEK 1/2 inhibitor in the method of the present invention differentiates neural stem cells into nerve cells, protects nerve cells and neural stem cells from cytotoxicity by beta amyloid, or induces nerve regeneration by both. The present invention also relates to a method of protecting a neuron from loss or damage of the neuron, comprising administering a MEK 1/2 inhibitor. In addition, the present invention comprises administering the MEK 1/2 inhibitor to a patient in need of prevention or treatment of neurodegenerative diseases caused by loss or damage of nerve cells, nerves caused by loss or damage of nerve cells It relates to a method for preventing or treating degenerative diseases.
