titleOfInvention Auto-injector device
abstract The automatic syringe for subcutaneous delivery of the drug includes a first subassembly releasably coupled to the second subassembly. The first sub-assembly includes a cartridge holder configured to receive a drug cartridge, an injection needle through which the drug can pass from the drug cartridge, and an extended position surrounding the needle and at least a contracted position where the proximal end of the needle is not surrounded by a needle shield. Includes a needle shield that can move between. The second subassembly includes a movable plunger rod disposed within the housing. The movement of the proximal needle shield from the contracted position to the extended position after administration of the drug automatically releases the first sub-assembly from the second sub-assembly. The released first sub-assembly is held in the extended position with the needle shield. A new first subassembly containing an unused dose of the drug can be inserted and releasably connected to the second subassembly.
