abstract The present disclosure provides a method for producing a molding material mixture for use in the casting industry or for manufacturing a molding material mixture and a molding, preferably a casting mold or core, wherein the molding material mixture comprises a mold base material and a lithium-containing material. A solution or dispersion comprising water glass, the method comprising the steps of: (1) preparing or providing a kit comprising at least the following individual components: (K1) an aqueous solution or dispersion comprising water glass and ( K2a) A first waterglass free solution or dispersion comprising a lithium-containing waterglass in an aqueous solution, and preferably a second waterglass free comprising lithium ions in the aqueous solution at a lower concentration in (K2b), preferably in composition (K2a). Solution or dispersion, and then (2) part of composition (K1) and part of composition (K2a), and also optionally with part of composition (K2b) DE preparing a mixture of the base material. More specifically, the above mentioned kits for application in the method of the invention are described in more detail. Also specified is a facility for producing an intermediate solution or dispersion comprising lithium-containing waterglass for use in preparing a molding material mixture or for molding molding material mixture therefrom.
