Demineralized bone matrix having improved handling characteristics |
abstract |
An injectable implant configured to fit into or around a bone defect site to promote bone growth, comprising: lyophilized demineralized bone matrix (DBM) in the form of fibers and particles; Alginate; And a liquid carrier, wherein the DBM is in an amount from about 20% to about 40% by weight of the total weight of the implantable implant, and the alginate is in an amount from about 3% to about 10% by weight of the total weight of the implantable implant Injectable implants are provided wherein the liquid carrier is in an amount from about 50% to about 70% by weight of the total weight of the implantable implant. Further provided are moldable implants and methods of making the implants. |
