abstract |
The present invention relates to a process and apparatus for benzene and / or toluene methylation under low temperature conditions in either the vapor phase, liquid phase or mixed vapor-liquid phase in an aromatic complex to produce para-xylene. More specifically, the present invention relates to an aromatic feedstock comprising oxygenate and toluene and / or benzene in a methylation zone operating under alkylation conditions comprising either a vapor phase, a liquid phase or a mixed vapor-liquid phase in the presence of a catalyst.
