The present invention relates to sanitary articles made of biodegradable polymers having a high content of bio-based materials, such as disposable diapers, adult incontinence pads, feminine hygiene articles and sanitary napkins. The sanitary article includes a topsheet, an absorbent core and a backsheet. The topsheet may be constructed to absorb and remove liquid from the wearer ' s body and consists of a biodegradable polyester polyol polymer foam that may be impregnated with a superabsorbent polymer. The absorbent core can be composed of a superabsorbent polymer comprising a crosslinked and / or crosslinked or partially neutralized polyacrylic acid polymer, a crosslinked polyacrylic acid or a crosslinked starch acrylic acid graft polymer. The backsheet can be composed of a poly-lactone polymer, which generally has a hydrophobic character. In a preferred embodiment, the polymeric material comprising the topsheet, the absorbent core and the backsheet is formed from a feedstock having a high content of biobased material. |
