The present invention relates to a catalyst for a solid polymer type fuel cell comprising platinum, cobalt and zirconium as catalyst metals supported on a carbon powder carrier, wherein the ratio of platinum, cobalt and zirconium supported on the carbon powder carrier is in a molar ratio of Pt: Co : Zr = 3: 0.5 to 1.5: 0.1 to 3.0.
