titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for removing radioactive materials from activated carbon
abstract The present invention relates to a process for decomposing a carbon compound containing radioactive carbon ( 14 C) adsorbed on a waste activated carbon in a reaction furnace to desorb the carbon compound (Step 1); Adsorbing oxygen to the activated carbon in the reactor (step 2); Performing a primary degassing operation on the activated carbon in the reaction furnace (step 3); Raising the temperature in the reactor (step 4); And performing a second degassing process on the activated carbon in the reaction furnace (step 5). When the method and the method for removing the radioactive material in the waste activated carbon according to the present invention are employed, the process becomes simpler and economical than the existing waste activated carbon treatment technology. In addition, the waste activated carbon can be recycled after the pollutants in the waste activated carbon are removed, and the removed pollutants can be converted into a mineral form that is easy to store or dispose of in the long term. In addition, the residual amount of tritium and radioactive carbon in the waste activated carbon through the removal method and treatment method of the radioactive material in the waste activated carbon is much lower than the self-disposal allowable standard value.
