titleOfInvention Anchorless gastric device for obesity treatment
abstract There is provided a gastric device comprising a compressible free-floating structure and a sleeve attached to the free-floating structure. The device is considered to be of the anchorless type because the sleeve is not physically attached to any part of the GI tract. The device is configurable between a pre-compressed and an expanded post-expansion configuration. The free floating device can be made of a shape memory material such as Nitinol. In some embodiments, the free floating structure is a spatial point type and non-porous. The sleeve may be attached to the free floating structure, for example, by a suture and / or an adhesive. In some embodiments, a stent may be inserted at the proximal end of the sleeve. The second free floating structure may be connected to the free floating structure such that the superstructure and the lower structure exist. In some embodiments, a gastrointestinal device is used to deliver a prebiotic and / or probiotic therapeutic agent to a patient.
