abstract |
The present invention relates to a method for detecting mycobacterium-specific metabolites in the form of mycotolium in an in vitro biological sample comprising contacting the biological sample with a reaction buffer, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and formaldehyde-dependent mycotriol dihydrogenase (FD-MDH) to prepare a reaction mixture; Reducing the NAD in the reaction mixture by interaction of the FD-MDH with a given mycobacterium-specific metabolite in the form of a mycothiol when present in a biological sample; And detecting the reduced NAD in the sample, indicative of the presence of mycotiol in the biological sample and thus a mycobacterial infection in the source of the biological sample. |
