abstract A new device that protects the compressor against liquid flooding, oil heater malfunction, low refrigerant charge, and high overheating. The system constitutes a device (electric compressor or suction heat exchanger or both) for measuring two temperatures separated by a heat source. The temperature difference can detect liquid return to the compressor, high overheating, low refrigerant charge or malfunction of the crankcase heater, and the temperature difference can control the electronic expansion valve.
