abstract Methods and compounds are disclosed that are effective in ameliorating conditions characterized by undesired calcium channel activity. In particular, a series of compounds which are N-piperidinylacetamide derivatives represented by the following formula (1) are disclosed as calcium ion channel activation regulators. Compositions comprising such compounds and the use of such compounds in the treatment or prevention of conditions such as obesity are also disclosed.
