The present invention provides a process for preparing a silicon dioxide granule comprising the steps of: i.) Providing silicon dioxide granules obtainable from a silicon dioxide powder, wherein said silicon dioxide granules have a larger particle size than silicon dioxide powder; Ii.) Preparing a glass melt from the silicon dioxide granules; and iii.) Preparing a quartz glass body from at least a portion of said glass melt; Here, the melting crucible has at least one inlet and at least one outlet; Here, at least part of the glass melt is removed through the outlet of the melting crucible. The present invention further relates to a quartz glass body obtainable by this process. The present invention further relates to a light guide, a light emitting body and a molded body which can be respectively obtained by further processing a quartz glass body. |
