abstract A field-shaped multi-well photo multiplier and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. The photo multiplier includes a field-forming multi-well avalanche detector including a bottom insulator, a-Se photoconductive layer and a top insulator. The a-Se photoconductive layer is located between the lower insulator and the upper insulator. A light interaction area, an avalanche area, and a collection area are provided along the length of the photo multiplier, and the light interaction area and the collection area are located on opposite sides of the avalanche area.
