abstract |
Lithium ion conductive ceramic materials and composites of polymer materials make excellent separators and electrolytes used in lithium batteries. The ceramic material provides a high conductivity path for lithium ions, thereby improving the properties of low conductivity polymer materials. The polymeric material provides flexibility, bondability and space-filling properties, which alleviates the tendency of the rigid ceramic material to crack or peel off. The interface between the polymer and the ceramic can have a low ionic resistance through the use of additives and coatings. |
