Methods for the treatment of pain using pharmacologically active acetaminophen dimers linked via a phenolic hydroxyl group |
abstract |
Methods for treating pain or heat, such as acute or chronic pain, in a subject without the risk of hepatotoxicity are provided herein. Subjects may be at risk for hepatotoxicity when acetaminophen monomers are administered. The method comprises administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising an acetaminophen dimer compound wherein the phenolic hydroxyl groups of the two acetaminophen compounds are linked via an ethylene spacer. |
