abstract |
The present invention relates to a method for predicting the risk of suffering from acute renal failure (AKI) during or after a surgical procedure or after contrast agent administration. The method is based on the determination of the level of the biomarker IGFBP7 (insulin-like growth factor binding protein 7) in the body fluid samples obtained from the patient prior to surgical treatment or before administration of the contrast agent. Further, the present invention provides a method for predicting the risk of a patient suffering from acute renal failure (AKI) based on the determination of the amount of biomarker IGFBP7 (insulin-like growth factor binding protein 7) and cystatin C in a body fluid sample obtained from a patient . The present invention further includes kits and devices provided for carrying out the method of the present invention. |
