titleOfInvention | Large three-dimensional porous skeleton made of active hydroxyapatite obtained by biological morphological transformation of natural structure and its production method |
abstract | The present invention relates to hydroxyapatite obtained from porous wood with high compressive strength and dimensions suitable for clinical applications. The porous wood has a porosity of about 60% to about 95%, the porosity of the wood being measured after the pyrolysis step, and the ratio of the porosity of the wood to the porosity of the wood, Is selected. The hydroxyapatite may be substituted with one or more of ions such as magnesium, strontium, silicon, titanium, carbonate, potash, sodium, silver, gallium, copper, iron, zinc, manganese, europium and gadolinium. Also disclosed are bone substitutes comprising hydroxyapatite obtained from porous wood. The bone substitute is utilized for replacing and regenerating the bone or bone part, preferably the bone under mechanical load, such as the iliac bones of the legs and arms, preferably the tibia, fibula, femur, humerus or radius. The present invention also relates to a method for preparing a hydroxyapatite framework in biological form from wood. |
