Method and system for hand presence detection in a minimally invasive surgical system |
abstract |
In a minimally invasive surgical system, a hand tracking system tracks the position of a sensor element mounted on a portion of a human hand. A system control variable is generated based on the position of a portion of the human hand. The operation of the minimally invasive surgical system is controlled using system control parameters. Thus, the minimally invasive surgical system includes a hand tracking system. The hand tracking system tracks the position of a portion of a human hand. The controller connected to the hand tracking system switches this position to a system control variable and provides an instruction based on system control variables to the minimally invasive surgical system. |
