A method of forming tanned and / or crosslinked fibers using natural or manipulating proteins, such as collagen, suitable for a wide range of textile fabrication processes, including nonwoven, woven and knitted fabrics. In particular, a method of forming collagen fibers formed from a cell-cultured material is described herein by forming a solution of a crosslinking agent in a collagen, emulsion, and in some modified embodiments, and then immediately thereafter extruding the collagen fibers. Also described herein are collagen fibers formed by such methods. |
