titleOfInvention Guide wire with navigation sensor
abstract Apparatus 300 includes an outer coil 302, a navigation coil 310, and a distal tip member 304. The outer coil defines an inner region bounded by the inner diameter. The navigation coil is placed on the circle at the distal end of the outer coil. The navigation coil is configured to generate a signal in response to movement of the navigation coil within the electromagnetic field. The distal tip member is positioned over the circle of the navigation coil such that the navigation coil is longitudinally interposed between the distal tip member and the distal end of the outer coil. The device may be used in combination with a navigation system to provide navigation of the sinus cavity and other structures within the patient.
