A method of making a polymer foam composite includes forming an at least partially uncured polymer foam; Contacting the formed polymer foam with a fibrous mat comprising a plurality of nonwoven fabrics having an average diameter of less than or equal to 100 micrometers under conditions effective to penetrate a portion of the polymer foam onto the mat to provide a preliminary composite; And curing the preliminary composite to form a polymer foam composite. The preliminary composite comprises a polymeric foam layer and a mixed layer comprising the same polymer and fibrous mat as the polymer of the polymeric foam layer. The polymer foam composite comprises a cured polymer foam layer and a mixed layer integrally bonded to the first layer, wherein the mixed layer comprises a fibrous mat and the same cured polymer as the polymer of the cured polymer foam layer. |
