abstract |
The present invention relates to high-load, controlled-release formulations for oral administration of magnesium salts. For example, the oral dosage form may comprise from about 80% to about 95% magnesium lactate and one or more ingredients. As another example, the oral dosage form may comprise at least about 50% magnesium salt and may exhibit a controlled release dissolution profile. The present invention also relates to a method of preparing a controlled-release dosage form for orally administering a therapeutically effective amount of a magnesium salt to a mammal. The present invention also relates to a method of treating a disorder characterized by magnesium deficiency and a method of preventing or ameliorating a low magnesium level. |
