The present invention relates to an anti-obesity composition containing thymol as an active ingredient. Treatment of thymol onto 3T3-L1 adipocytes has shown effectiveness in promoting expression of gene encoding brown fat. Accordingly, the anti-obesity composition can be used as functional food compositions for preventing and ameliorating obesity containing thymol as the active ingredient. |
