A heterogeneous metal hydride comprising a subarea comprising a main region comprising a first metal hydride and at least one additional component selected from the group consisting of a second metal hydride, a metal, a metal alloy and an additional metal compound, (MH) compositions are suitable as anode materials for lithium ion batteries. The first metal hydride is, for example, MgH 2 . Methods of making compositions include coating, mechanical grinding, sintering, heat treatment, and quenching techniques. |
