An oral formulation of bromelain which is effective for treating and preventing diarrhea caused by pathogenic microorganisms. The formulation does not kill pathogenic microorganisms and thus does not promote the proliferation of antimicrobial resistant organisms. The present invention involves the formulation of aqueous oral suspensions of bromelain, Blanose sodium carboxymethylcellulose, citric acid anhydride, Epikuron 135F lecithin oil and ethylene dinitrile tetraacetic acid, disodium salt dihydrate ("EDTA"). |
