abstract |
In certain embodiments, the disclosure discloses methods for detecting lung cancer. This method involves the characterization of cells extracted from human sputum, an important tissue substitute for upper respiratory cells that become cancerous early in lung cancer outbreak 5 and a source of supply. This method involves staining extracted cells with a fluorescent reporter that produces a specific pattern in the nucleus of labeled cells that can be visualized with an optical microscope. The pattern is related to the type of welfare encryption of DNA known as DNA methylation, which changes in specific cells of the lung during cancer development compared to normal respiratory cells. |
