abstract The present invention relates to a responsive chiral dye compound with enhanced solubility by having structural complementarity with liquid crystal molecules, and a method for preparing the compound. The responsive chiral dye compound according to the present invention can be dispersed in commercialized nematic liquid crystals by having excellent solubility, and can be used as an additive for producing a dye for liquid crystals and a cholesteric reflective film by not generating cohesion. The responsive chiral dye compound of the present invention can reversibly control the reflective color of a cholesteric film in a condition for applying light, heat, and an electric field, thereby being able to be used for a smart window of a vehicle or a protective camouflage film for army.
