abstract A method for cutting a desired final shape in a glass sheet having a thickness of about 0.3 mm or less by irradiating the glass with a laser beam and continuously moving the laser along the cutting line against the glass. The laser is circular and a cooling fluid is applied simultaneously with the irradiation of the laser to cause the cooling fluid to at least reduce the temperature of the glass to propagate the fracture in the glass. The method can control at least one of (i) the energy density of the laser, (ii) the speed of the laser to the glass along the cutting line, (iii) the flow rate of the cooling fluid, and Such that the B10 edge strength of the cutting edge of the first and second cutting edges is at least about 300 MPa.
