abstract The present invention provides a hexavalent chromium treating agent which can stably stay in leather or leather products for a long period of time and can harmlessly decompose hexavalent chromium even when hexavalent chromium is contained in leather or leather products, Is a leather or leather product having a chromium content of less than 3 ppm. In order to solve the above problems, the leather or leather product of the present invention has a structure represented by the general formula (1), which has a property of acting on at least hexavalent chromium and has three-dimensionally reducing properties, and a structure having a hydroxyphenyl group and having no aldehyde group and no carboxyl group (A) and trivalent chromium, and the content of hexavalent chromium measured according to ISO 17075: 2008-02 is less than 3 ppm.
