titleOfInvention Tether for personal protective device, such as a hearing protection device
abstract Tether for personal protection. The tether provides an initial length (L1). The tether is configured to self-retain the elongation length (L2) when stretched. The tether is further configured to self-transit or self-retract from the elongation length (L2) to the recovery length (L3) when heated. With this arrangement, the tether can be stretched by the user in a stretched state in which the stretched length L2 is close to the length desired by the user; After use, the tether can be retracted to the recovery length (L3) for storage. Alternatively, if the elongation length L2 is longer than desired by the user, the tether can be retracted to the desired length in the recovery state (i.e., the recovery length L3) and subsequently worn. The tether may be formed from a polymer blend of EVA and TPU.
