The present invention provides chelate complex micelles as drug delivery vehicles. Chelate complex micelles can transport drugs without structural changes, and therefore prolong the half-life of the drug in the body. Chelate complex micelles have one metal ion core, at least one polymer, and at least one drug molecule. Metal ions are considered Lewis acids while polymer chains and drug molecules are considered Lewis bases. The drug molecule is linked to the polymer through coordination bonds with the metal ion, and then self assembled to form chelate complex micelles as the drug delivery vehicle. |
