abstract The present invention provides a composition comprising energy (e.g., light) absorbing sub-micron particles (e.g., nanoparticles comprising a silica core and a gold shell) and a method of delivering such particles through topical application do. This transmission is facilitated by mechanical agitation (e.g., massaging), sonic vibration in the range of 10 Hz-20 kHz, ultrasonic, cross-suction and pressurization, and application of microjets. After the treatment method is performed, the treatment response interval is repeated after the desired clinical outcome.
