abstract |
The present invention relates to an electrode assembly having improved safety and a secondary battery including the electrode assembly. More particularly, the present invention relates to a jelly-roll type electrode assembly having improved safety, such as preventing a thermal runaway caused by a local short circuit by inducing a large-sized short circuit to an external impact, and a secondary battery including the same. The electrode assembly according to the present invention has a low strength of the separator portion surrounding the outer periphery and is easily broken by an external impact to induce a short circuit to be generated in a large area so that thermal congestion due to a short circuit or firing can be prevented from concentrating on a local portion . In addition, the lithium secondary battery including the electrode assembly according to the present invention has an effect of improving heat and safety. |
