abstract The binder composition for a lithium ion secondary battery electrode of the present invention includes an emulsion in which polymer particles derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer are dispersed in an aqueous solution of a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin. The average particle diameter of the polymer particles is 50 nm or more and less than 600 nm. The viscosity average degree of polymerization of the polyvinyl alcohol-based resin is 400 to 3,000. According to the lithium ion secondary battery having the lithium ion secondary battery electrode obtained using the binder composition of the present invention, a high charge / discharge capacity can be stably obtained.
