The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a catalyst comprising (a) a Zn catalyst comprising a Zn compound having an alcoholate ligand (s) derived from at least one polyol, and (b) a metal catalyst having an alcoholate ligand Wherein the metal is selected from the group consisting of (I) a Group 2 metal, preferably Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba, more preferably Mg, (II) Li, And (III) a combination of at least two metals selected from (I) and (II). The present invention also relates to a process for the polymerization of epoxide monomers, preferably ethylene oxide, comprising carrying out the process in the presence of said catalyst combination. |
