titleOfInvention |
A synthetic biocidal surface comprising an array of nanospikes |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a material exhibiting a germicidal action and in particular to a surface exhibiting a novel surface phase lethal to cells upon contact with the cells. The invention also relates to a device comprising such a surface, to a method of making such a surface, and to a method of reducing cell viability or removing cells by exposing the cell to such a surface. In particular, the present invention relates to a synthetic germicidal surface comprising a nanospike array, wherein said nanospikes cause a cell to be killed by penetrating the cell membrane of said cells on said surface, and a synthetic germicidal surface, Wherein the nano spike is passed through a cell membrane of the cell on the surface to kill the cell. The method of claim 1, wherein the nano spike comprises a nano-spike array. . |
