abstract |
The structured abrasive article includes a backing and a shaped abrasive composite secured to the backing. The shaped abrasive composite comprises an abrasive grit dispersed in a binder matrix. The shaped abrasive composite comprises a bottom surface and a top surface opposite and not in contact with the bottom surface, and three or more sidewalls adjacent the bottom and top surface and both the different sidewalls. In one embodiment, the two or more tangents are formed by the top surface and the individual sidewalls. In yet another embodiment, the top surface includes two or more separate sidewalls and two or more triangular cutting surfaces contacting two or more cusps. The top surface includes one or more inner concave portions that are closer to the apex than the bottom surface. A method of abrading a workpiece using a structured abrasive article is also disclosed. |
